The Office for Reparations (OR) organized a Knowledge and Technology Transfer Programme in Kopai, on August 20th, 2022. The objective of this event was to provide livelihood support and empowerment to houses headed by women, affected by the North and East Conflict.
At this programme, the OR and the National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERDC) made presentations about the technologies available to the beneficiaries of the programme for their own startups. The OR also organized speakers to deliver a motivational speech and a guidance session on financial management.
In addition to this, the OR facilitated three technology transfer sessions to demonstrate to the beneficiaries how to extract virgin coconut oil, make liquid soap and make candles.
The OR also handed over virgin coconut oil extraction machines to five beneficiaries of the previous livelihood support programme held in Thellipalai, Jaffna enabling them to initiate new startups. The programme concluded with feedback and discussion to identify further needs and trainings for follow-up.
